“How has the MS-EIA program supported your career goals after graduation?”

The MS-EIA program supported my career by giving me a strong academic foundation in the energy, environment, and technology space. In my role as an Energy and Environment Analyst at ITTA, I regularly apply the research, writing, and analytical skills I developed through the program. Learning from program faculty who are leaders in their fields helped prepare me to approach complex policy challenges with confidence. The program’s emphasis on research and technical skills, such as R programming and interpreting complex graphs and datasets, has allowed me to contribute as an expert early in my career. MS-EIA also opened meaningful professional doors, and I am excited to build on this foundation as I continue my career journey.

The MS-EIA Program gave me the flexibility to dive into my own areas of interest, specifically nuclear energy and international energy security). At the same time, it surrounded me with expert faculty who were able to understand my interests and career goals, and helped support my development in the directions I wanted. The opportunity to develop my technical skills in a policy-focused environment was the perfect way to translate my knowledge into transferable skills for my work.”

Jessica Han (EIA’ 25)

Industry: Energy Consulting
Company: Ernst & Young
Job Title: Consultant, Climate Change and Sustainability Services (EY CCaSS)

“How has the MS-EIA program supported your career goals after graduation?”

Through the resources and intellectual environment of the School of Foreign Service and the Earth Commons, and beyond learning from exceptional faculty, the MS-EIA program helped me to develop a more integrated way of thinking about sustainability by connecting environmental issues with geopolitics and global markets. This perspective has been directly relevant in my role at EY, where clients increasingly face ESG disclosure requirements across multiple jurisdictions, including European regulations, Hong Kong listing rules, and broader capital-market expectations. The interdisciplinary nature of the MS-EIA program strengthened my ability to navigate complex policy and reporting landscapes and translate them into practical, actionable guidance for enterprises. I am deeply grateful for my time in the MS-EIA program and look forward to visiting my professors in Washington, D.C. soon.
